How to paint beach roses in watercolor {easy tutorial!} Video Lecture | Master the Art of Watercolour Painting (English) - Art & Craft

hi there Lindsay you're the frugal
crafter I was at the beach painting
yesterday and I shared these photos of
the things that I painted on my blog and
I had some requests to paint the beach
roses so I thought I would do that
really quickly today and um hopefully
help you guys if you're inspired to do
some painting I don't know it as well so
what I'm going to do is start with I'm
going to do the center of this flower
and a little bit of cadmium yellow and
then I'm very gently going to draw the
petals of a beach rose and it's very
very simple shape you've got five petals
and you just want to kind of space them
evenly around your Center I'm just
sketching it in with the yellow because
I know it's pretty easy to UM and some
overturn petals it's pretty easy to go I
kind of cover over if you need to and I
wanted this kind of like very simply and
all at once just like you would if you
were painting excuse me a whole froggy
today just as you what if you were
painting out and about and then I'm
going to just squeeze out a little water
to clean my water brush and I am going
to go in with some of this culantro cone
rose yeah I totally butchered that this
rose color which is the pink on my co I
set you can use Rose madder or alizarin
crimson whatever you like and I'm just
I'm actually just throwing in kind of
darker areas and I'm doing this quickly
so that I can go in and blend it before
it all before it all dries on me this
watercolor is very forgiving so it's a
great great thing to take out about
painting with you now that I've put most
of my shadows in a little bit more here
I'm just going to go and as water feeds
through this brush it's going to lighten
everything up
so I don't really have to do much do it
just kind of go and start blending it
down I want to keep it out of the center
if a little blends in there it's not the
end of the world but I do want to keep
it fairly yellow in the middle let's go
through and kind of liquefy some of
these colors
and I'm leaving a barrier between the
center and the pedals and I am going to
add a little bit more of this pink just
to deepen up the color a little bit help
you know probably need to do a little
bit more to that in a bit but I'm just
going off that dry and then I'm going to
grab some greens I've got some of this
mossy green and some of the some of this
like a Viridian color and what I'm going
to do is put some rosebuds
some that are open and some that are
closed and fresh so I can have a little
bits of red peeking up there and then I
also want to do some leaves so I'm just
doing these little they've got their
leaves all the times kind of going
clusters of three leaves of three let
them be not if they're roses that was
also the poison ivy mata the way I like
remember poison ivy because we've got a
lot of it around here is that poison ivy
leaves usually have like a little bit of
a thumb so they're kind of like a the
kind of oval but then they could almost
get a little bump I think of that as a
thumb and I think the ones are the thumb
on it avoid those cuz that's poison ivy
in case you uh case you have any idea
you don't really have I've never gotten
a poison ivy rash before I think that I
think I am NOT i would say immune but
not very sensitive to it my father is
neither he's never he's been right thick
in it and he's never had any problems
with it so I think I lucked out there my
kids did not though my son is very
allergic to poison ivy and you know the
three leaves over here and again this is
a quick sketch this is you know not a
masterpiece it is you know quick and fun
i wouldI some of that yellow that I was
using in a flower to make it all
harmonized here and I didn't bring my
credit card scraper when I was out
painting which is kind of foolish since
I have like tons of them so I have put
one in my little box now so that I can
always have that when I'm out and about
I'm gonna set that out of the way I just
knocked it down
there we go put that up there okay so
that I can just kind of scrape in some
details if I want but when you're out
painting you know it really helps you
observe and helps you learn paint from
memory better when you're not out and
about painting it's just it's a great
exercise and activity and try not to be
shy about it because I know that is
worrisome for people they'll be out
painting and they'll be like people are
looking at me I feel like a complete
dork but you know what if you never feel
like a complete dork in your life you're
probably missing out I really think so
and let's see I think I would take this
green that's a pink and I mix it with
some of the mossy green I'll get a
really cool Brown really colorful Brown
there and I want to use that when my
stem is too and when you're painting
you'll learn a lot about color theory
when you're painting because a lot of
times you figure out about you are
working with a smaller palette not so
many colors so you're forced to mix
you're forced to make do and I think
that's excellent I mean this is a set of
24 so I'm like you have to do much
making do here but um but it's really a
great great technique now I'm taking
some yellow ochre and they're stabbing
around the middle here because that's
kind of what Pete Rose has as little I
don't know Paulo new things I'm not a
biologist and what they're called um tre
hot here today it's like 90 degrees I
should be at the beach today uh but I'm
not because we spent way too long there
yesterday
um and I'm just going to add a little
bit more pink is to deepen my color here
they are pretty pretty pale though beat
roses really
here I love wild flowers you know this
seeing what nature does on its own
without being helped along that's nice
alright now I'm going to splutter some
of that pink on there just to give a
little interest and make it you know
kind of I don't know I extension and
reinforce the fact that is paint painted
quickly and with spontaneity some of the
yellow cuz I like that yellow color I
like yellow there we go and I call it
done really I mean what more what more
do you need very quick sketch you think
about making this to decorate a card or
something simple like that it's your
quick little daily painting break with
